Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their hydraulic cylinder requirements.
- Promote and sell our hydraulic cylinder products and manufacturing solutions to both new and existing customers.
- Conduct site visits and consultations to recommend tailored solutions for clients.
- Work closely with the technical and manufacturing teams to ensure the accuracy of product offerings and client satisfaction.
- Identify new business opportunities within the hydraulic and mechanical sectors.
- Prepare sales reports and provide feedback to management on customer needs and industry trends.
- Meet or exceed sales targets and deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications

Witt Engineering is looking for an experienced Fitter and Turner to join our team in Namibia. This role involves precision machining of mechanical components. A strong history in turning/machining is strongly advised, as the candidate will be expected to work independently and efficiently from the start.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision machining, fitting, and turning on various mechanical components.
- Operate lathes, milling machines, and other machining tools.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to optimize production processes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues related to machining and fitting.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to workplace regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in fitting and turning, with strong technical expertise.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and components is highly beneficial.

- CNC Programmer -
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our precision engineering team. This role involves programming and operating both CNC Milling Machines and CNC Lathes to produce complex machined parts and hydraulic cylinder components. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment producing everything from one-off prototypes to high-volume production runs of identical pieces.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Setup
- Program CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using CAM software and manual programming techniques
- Create and optimize machining programs for complex precision components
- Set up machines including fixture selection, tool selection, and workpiece positioning
- Establish cutting parameters, feeds, speeds, and tool paths for optimal efficiency
- Program CNC machining operations for complex geometries
Production Operations
- Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes to manufacture precision parts
- Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality
- Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks
- Maintain production schedules and meet delivery deadlines
- Execute both prototype and high-volume production runs
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all machined parts meet dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and bore equipment.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards
- Document and report any quality issues or non-conformances
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality
Tooling & Maintenance
- Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and fixtures for each operation
- Monitor tool wear and implement tool life optimization strategies
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate tool inventory and cutting data records
Documentation & Reporting
- Create and maintain detailed setup sheets and operation instructions
- Document proven programs and machining parameters for future reference
- Complete production reports and job tracking documentation
- Support failure analysis and corrective action processes
- Maintain accurate records for traceability requirements
Collaboration & Support
- Provide machining feasibility input during design review process
- Support Namibian apprentices and junior machinists with training and guidance
- Coordinate with production planning for scheduling optimization
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in CNC programming and operation
- Proficiency in both CNC milling and CNC lathe programming
- Strong knowledge of G-code and M-code programming
- Experience with CAM software (preferably Fusion 360, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques
- Understanding of cutting tool selection and machining parameters
- Knowledge of various materials including steel, aluminum, plastics, and exotic alloys
Desirable Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with CNC machining
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software for part modeling and modification
- Experience with multiple CNC control systems (Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, etc.)
- Understanding of workholding and fixturing design principles
- Ability to optimize programs for cycle time reduction
